Date: 20 December 2016
Project List: – State: VIC, Type: Rail
Location: Rosanna Station – North East Melbourne Suburbs
Project Manager: Level Crossing Removal Authority (LXRA)
Budget: $140 million inclusive
Phase: Community Consultation – View to begin in 2017
Jobs Created: 200+
How to Apply: http://au.indeed.com/Rail-jobs-in-Melbourne-VIC
And: https://au.jora.com/Level-Crossing-Rail-jobs

The bottleneck of the intersection at Lower Plenty Road and Rosanna Road will be eased by the long-awaited upgrade of the Hurstbridge line at Rosanna station. A duplicate track between Rosanna and Hurstbridge will increase efficiency and lower waiting times for trains on the line. As a result, a complete station rebuild will also increase commuter comfort.

The project aims to remove the level crossing at Rosanna station; passenger feedback has been addressed to determine which way of redesigning the area would be best (this will take into account the benefits and drawbacks for all possible outcomes).

The complete project will take around two years to complete and will create over 200 jobs for the rail and construction industries in the North Eastern suburbs of Melbourne. The long-term effects of this upgrade for nearby Rosanna Road could mean less cars and more people choosing to commute via train.

On the same line, the Alphington Station level crossing is also set to be removed. These anticipated works will fix the constant problems with the Hurstbridge line timetable, and allow more reliability between other public transport outlets, such as the bus. Signal upgrades will also allow for a faster system with less tendency for power failure.
